Biography

Biography

Born and raised in Berlin, Tore Rinkveld also known as Evol is a German artist coming from the Street Art movement. His interventions on both urban property & found cardboard are impregnated with architecture of popular collective apartments, a recurring theme within his production. The cardboard, with his existing marks, provides a rich surface on which to stencil. The graphics, duck tape and other imperfections are highlighted to echo the visual pollution as found into the real urban landscape.

Both his studio works and installations consists in a scale reversal where the buildings are reduced to miniatures of our own society. Unpopulated by figures, these works nonetheless contains signs of life – the exteriors of housing in which people live and work – but are strangely quiet. While they showcase a austere urban environment, his compositions remain absorbing & accessible.

Evol graduated of a product design degree in 2000 at the University Hochschule Für Gestaltung (HFG) in Berlin. For the last decade, the artist has been increasing his attendances to many collective exhibitions, as well as nine solo shows in New York, Brussels, Berlin & Shanghai among others. His work has also been displayed in medias such as BBC, the newspaper The Independant as well as the magazines Interview Magazine & Paper Magazine.
